A Two-Part Webinar Series for California Physicians and Practice Leaders
Part 1 of 2
California physician practices are increasingly facing scrutiny from sophisticated payor analytics, downcoding programs and coding pattern reviews that often rely solely on claims data, without considering the complexity of the patients being treated. Independent and smaller practices are especially vulnerable because they typically lack the internal analytics and compliance resources available to large health systems.
This webinar will show physicians, office managers, billers, practice administrators and practice leaders how to use widely available AI tools, working with the standard summary reports any practice management system can produce, to perform their own internal coding-risk monitoring without needing specialized analytics expertise, expensive software or patient-level data. Participants will learn how to:
- Identify the practice management reports needed for effective self-audits.
- Analyze E/M distributions, modifier utilization, RVU concentration and coding trends over time using AI tools, without writing formulas, learning statistics or interpreting raw numbers.
- Recognize the coding patterns most likely to attract payor scrutiny.
- Understand the limitations of payor benchmarking methodologies.
- Build a practical monthly self-audit process that takes under an hour and produces a written record the practice can rely on if questioned later.
The webinar will include a live demonstration showing how practices can use AI assistants to analyze billing summaries and ask better questions about their own coding patterns and risk exposure.
This webinar is the first of a two-part series.
Presenter:
Frank Cohen is Senior Data Scientist at VMG Health and Chief Statistician at Advanced Healthcare Analytics, LLC. As a computational statistician, he has spent nearly five decades at the intersection of healthcare data science, clinical analytics, and Medicare audit defense, providing expert witness testimony in over one hundred healthcare litigation matters involving statistical sampling, extrapolation methodology, and coding-pattern analysis. He is the original developer of the Compliance Risk Analyzer (CRA) platform, holds Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certifications, and is the author of multiple books on healthcare analytics and physician compliance.
