Join our Virtual Grand Rounds: Is Menopause Having a Moment? Updates in Menopause Care on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. PT.

The roles of menopause and hormone therapy in health care have waxed and waned over the past 100 years, but recent media coverage shows they’ve become spotlighted issues once again. However, there are still gaps in physician understanding of recognized perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms and current best practices in menopausal hormone therapy prescribing. Data also show that fewer women are being treated with hormone therapy now than three decades ago.

In this Virtual Grand Rounds, OB/GYN Debra Gierut, M.D., will discuss these issues and present evidence around uses of hormone therapy for disease prevention in cardiovascular and bone health. Erica Pan, M.D., MPH, Director of the California Department of Public Health, will also discuss recent trends in infectious disease epidemiology including measles, hantavirus and other emerging public health issues.
