Safeguarding Medicare Enrollment: Preventing Deactivation, EFT Errors and Ownership Reporting Problems
Medicare enrollment can be jeopardized by internal vulnerabilities that often go unnoticed until billing disruptions occur. This presentation addresses two critical risk areas: deactivation reasons and electronic funds transfer (EFT) documentation mismatches. When only one individual holds PECOS access, their departure can leave a practice unable to manage enrollments, leading to potential deactivation. We'll explore strategies for distributing access, maintaining continuity and preparing for transitions. Additionally, we'll examine how discrepancies between practice names, IRS documentation and NPPES records can delay or block EFTs, even when updated documents like the 147C letter are submitted. Through real-world examples and actionable guidance, attendees will learn how to strengthen internal processes, align documentation and ensure uninterrupted operations.
- PECOS access vulnerability
- How to avoid enrollment deactivation
- EFT agreement authorization disruption
- Ownership interest for organizations and individuals
