Join our Virtual Grand Rounds: Black Health in California - Moving Towards Equity on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 12:00 p.m PT to 1:00 p.m. PT
The average Californian lives to age 81, but the average Black Californian only lives to age 75. How can we dismantle the persistent health equities among Black Californians? Rhonda Smith, MBA, Executive Director at the California Black Health Network, will join us to discuss some groundbreaking work in engaging communities to be part of developing a statewide strategic approach to improving Black health. This work elucidates root causes of the disparities and dispels commonly held misconceptions about Black health beliefs and behaviors. Additionally, we will hear from California State Epidemiologist Erica Pan, M.D., MPH, who will review the current status of COVID-19, influenza and other winter respiratory viruses.
